Following a foul call on Gael Nation’s Sean Armand, Julian Gamble hit a free throw to reach the Target Score and push Armored Athlete to a 75-73, comeback victory over Gael Nation. Gamble finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds for Armored Athlete, which advanced to a fourth straight Super 16. Terrico White had 19 points and nine rebounds, and Murphy Holloway posted a double-double (11 points, 14 rebounds) to help Armored Athlete, which came back from a 17-point, third-quarter deficit. Armand finished with 20 points and four steals for Gael Nation, which went just 3-for-15 from three-point range in the second half after making 10 of 17 three-pointers in the first half.
TBT features 72 teams of top professional, college alumni, and international basketball players competing in a single-elimination 5-on-5 tournament for a winner-take-all $2 Million prize. All 72 games will air on ESPN networks beginning Friday, June 29, culminating with the championship game on Friday, August 3 live at 9:00 pm ET on ESPN. Regional competitions will be hosted in Richmond (July 13-15), Los Angeles (July 13-15), Brooklyn (July 20-22) and Columbus (July 20-22), with the semifinals and championship game in Baltimore (August 2-3).
The highly-competitive tournament has attracted some of the best basketball players in the world. In 2017, Overseas Elite won for the third year in a row.
