TBT Flashback – 2016 Championship Game

Flashback to TBT 2016: Overseas Elite defeated Team Colorado by a score of 77-72. Overseas Elite survived a 20 point first half deficit and then a second half 9-0 run from Team Colorado before being crowned champs for the second year in a row and taking home $2,000,000. Overseas Elite was led by 18 points from D.J. Kennedy and 17 points from Kyle Fogg. The win brought Overseas Elite total TBT winnings to $3,000,000.

TBT features 64 teams of top professional, college alumni, and international basketball players competing in a single-elimination 5-on-5 tournament for a winner-take-all $2 Million prize. All 63 games will air on ESPN networks beginning Saturday, July 8, culminating with the championship game on Thursday, August 3 live at 7:00 pm ET on ESPN. Regional competitions will be hosted in Charlotte (July 8-9), Philadelphia (July 8-9), Las Vegas (July 15-16) and Peoria (July 15-16), with the semifinals and championship game in Baltimore (August 1-3).

The highly-competitive tournament has attracted some of the best basketball players in the world. In 2016, 63 recent NBA players competed, and 20 teams were composed of alumni from Division I programs including Villanova, Gonzaga, Kentucky, Syracuse, Michigan State, and Memphis. Overseas Elite, a team put together by a CAA agent consisting of his clients, won for the second year in a row. Entry into TBT is free, with an application period that runs from April 1, 2017 through June 1, 2017. Teams compete for spots in the tournament by soliciting votes from fans and supporters via social media. Applicants must be 18 or older and willing to forego their amateur status.
